Save our Sir Winston Churchill's Tree, 1966 Cossington, Leics. from being cut down
PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION......
https://www.change.org/SaveTheWinstonTree
Our plea to you is to sign this petition to save our " Sir Winston" Tree.
Your data will be held for six months and it will be submitted to Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire Council
Cossington our quaint village in Leicestershire was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. As part of our villages history there is also some Commemorative English Oak trees that have been planted dating back from 1902. These trees form a part of the unique character of Main Street through our village.
One of the trees is in memory of Sir Winston Churchill and was planted in 1966 to commemorate his death.
The "Sir Winston" Oak is threatened by a proposed housing development. The developers want to remove this historic tree in order to create access to a new 166 housing estate.
The removal of this beautiful tree is considered necessary by the builders. We contend it is not. There are other ways of providing access to the new estate. The tree is sited on a sharp, right angled bend which is already dangerous.
Our plea to you is to sign this petition to save our " Sir Winston" Tree. This tree has been in situ longer than lots of houses in our village.
Please sign it or it will be lost...
